HOKA Skyflow: Detailed Review

Hummingbird’s Hope Pearmain tried and tested HOKA Skyflow review.

HOKA, renowned for their extensive variety of running shoes, has added another versatile runner to their lineup. The HOKA Skyflow is a fun, snappy, and cushioned shoe that you will want in your rotation

HOKA KNOWS ITS TECH.

The tech speaks for itself, and the HOKA Skyflow is impressive:

  • Cushion: Maximum

  • Stability: Neutral

  • Heel-to-Toe Drop (mm): 5 mm

  • Stack Height: 41 mm

  • Upper: Engineered mesh

  • Midsole: CMEVA foam

  • Outsole: High-abrasion rubber

  • Weight: 288g

Featuring an engineered mesh upper, the Skyflow guarantees breathability and comfort, while its durable Durabrasion rubber outsole offers reliable traction across diverse surfaces.

A key distinguishing feature of the HOKA Skyflow is its midsole, crafted from supercritical EVA foam. This advanced material contains numerous tiny cells, offering greater responsiveness and a lighter feel compared to traditional midsole foams—think of running on countless tiny air bubbles. This type of foam isn't found in HOKA’s classic daily trainers, such as the Clifton 9 or Bondi 8, but is used in the Mach 6, which we will refer to in this review. Despite its robust construction, the shoes are remarkably lightweight, weighing only 288 grams

The Fit on Foot

This runner is great for neutral runners. I found the Hoka Skyflow incredibly comfortable from the get-go. For those familiar with Hoka, the Skyflow feels similar to the Mach 6 in weight and sizing but with a more responsive all-around feel. Speaking in technical terms, you could place the Hoka Skyflow somewhere between the Hoka Mach 6 and the Hoka Bondi 8.

A massive plus for me, and something I notice immediately when putting on a running shoe, is whether they cause sizing issues. In this case, the HOKA Skyflow fits true to size, and I didn't face any break-in issues during my first few runs!
