IRONMAN 70.3 Victoria, taking place on May 25, 2025, showcases the natural beauty of Vancouver Island, attracting triathletes year after year. The race begins with a pristine 1.9km swim in Elk Lake, followed by a 90km rolling bike course through charming towns and coastal roads, and finishes with a flat, shaded 21.1km trail run around the lake. Beyond race day, participants can explore lush rainforests, historic downtown Victoria, or go whale watching in the Salish Sea, making this event a truly unforgettable experience.
Hummingbird’s very own Luke Tasker won the event in 2024. Here’s his quick take on the course:
-
A single-loop swim in Elk Lake’s cold, clear waters. Smooth conditions, easy navigation, and a short run to the grassy transition zone make it a fast and efficient start.
-
A 90 km rolling course featuring scenic forest and coastal roads, with some punchy climbs. Watch for slick conditions in rain and stay alert at intersections. The Willis Point climb near the end is a rewarding challenge.
-
Two laps around Elk Lake on hard-packed gravel with rolling hills and occasional slippery sections. Aid stations and enthusiastic spectators keep spirits high.
-
Rain or shine, the course showcases British Columbia’s natural beauty, supported by top-notch volunteers and a vibrant race-day energy.
