Brendan Gribbons started as a runner but battled recurring injuries. During a training camp setback, his coach introduced him to swimming, and triathlon quickly became his passion. Now, he’s aiming for a top-10 finish in the pro field, racing at major events like St. George, Boulder, and Boise 70.3.

His biggest lesson? Training smarter, not just harder: “Keeping easy days easy and hard days hard reduced injuries and improved performance.” Outside of triathlon, Brendan enjoys life in Vancouver’s West End with his partner, Brett, and their blind Boston Terrier, Geri. He loves hiking, cooking, and exploring BC’s landscapes while balancing his role as a Director of Biomedical Engineering, ensuring hospitals run with cutting-edge technology.

Brendan Gribbons

Advice for beginner triathletes:

“One of my biggest lessons was truly separating easy and hard workouts. Pushing too much on recovery days and not enough on hard days led to burnout and slower progress. Once I committed to keeping easy days easy and going all-in on hard sessions, my performance improved, and injuries decreased.”
