Julien Roberts has always gravitated toward tough endurance challenges. A former competitive swimmer specializing in the 100/200 fly, he ran a sub-4:00 marathon at just 15 with no training and biked 1,000 km across Quebec in high school. After stepping away from sports in university, he rediscovered running during COVID, which led him back to triathlon. Eight months of training later, he finished Ironman California in 9:17—and he’s been hooked ever since.
His 2025 goals? Win a 70.3, improve his run, and fine-tune race-day execution. His advice? “Just show up. Consistency beats one big session.” When not training, Julien enjoys ski touring, mountain biking, and long hikes—or kicking back with video games on rest days.
Top placements
2024 Ironman Victoria 70.3: 5th Overall, 2nd Age group
2024 Victoria Half: 1st Overall, 1st Age group

Advice for beginner triathletes:
“Just show up—consistency matters more than one big session. Don’t overthink gear; it’s not about having the best setup. If starting feels overwhelming, keep it simple: go for a run, ride to a coffee shop, or join a swim squad. The rest will fall into place as you learn what works for you.”
