William Rooke’s triathlon journey began unexpectedly after reading about Lucy Charles-Barclay in 2016. Intrigued, he dove into the sport, bought his first bike, and completed his first sprint triathlon two years later. In 2019, he hired a coach and raced his first 70.3 at Whistler. Now, he’s working toward being competitive in his age group at the 2025 70.3 World Championships in Marbella.
His advice? “Find what works for you—don’t stress the small things.” Between races, William enjoys film photography, capturing moments on his training rides, and experiencing the thrill of developing his shots. With a packed season ahead, he’s ready to take on new challenges and push his limits on the world stage.
Top placements
2025 UBC Triathlon: 1st place
2024 Westwood Lake Triathlon: 2nd overall
2022 UBC Triathlon: 4th Overall, 1st Divison

Advice for beginner triathletes:
“There’s plenty of great advice out there, but not everything will work for you—find what does. Don’t stress over the little things before or during race day. Things can go wrong, and that’s okay. Plan for challenges, adapt, and keep moving forward. Most importantly, enjoy race day—you’ve trained for this, so don’t let small setbacks take away from the experience..”
